Master of Education

In my capacity as Dean of the Faculty of Education, I welcome you personally and on behalf of the Faculty to the new academic year. Today you are taking the first step in a life-long journey, a formative journey that I believe we are undertaking together, for I hope that you will view the Faculty of Education at St Theresa International college as your professional home throughout your career.

The Master of Education in Educational Administration Program is aimed at turning out professional administrators with broad-based, in-depth knowledge and understanding of educational administration in line with current professional standards for educational and institutional administrators such as those set forth by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand and the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) of the United States. The emphasis of the program is on development of competencies in the management and leadership of education necessary for a high level of proactive performance toward quality achievement and effectiveness of the school programs with a view to gearing the national education systems toward realization of globalization of the 21st century.

The program is designed primarily to cater to the needs of school directors. Its unique features cover the core requirements of national standards for educational and institutional administrators, as commonly found in the educational systems of most advanced countries. Following the tradition of St Theresa College which offers programs with the use of English as the medium of instruction, the M. Ed. program is international in nature while maintaining a good balance between the leadership and management aspects of the field of educational administration. It has built-in aspects of school-based management and standard-based curriculum and instruction, which necessitates a good deal of instructional leadership while maintaining its strength in keeping abreast with the emergent knowledge management and strategic management paradigms of educational administration widely adopted today.

Finally, a unique feature of the curriculum is that it caters to the needs of specific groups of school administrators, particularly those foreseen to lead and manage Catholic schools that have had long history in the tradition of public education in Thailand as well as other countries. The courses offered to these groups would involve the students to analyze and apply theory and practice to the development of educational programs that nurture the philosophy and policy of the long-established Catholic tradition while maintaining alignment with current standards-based and school-based curriculum and instruction.
