Mini-English Camp at Christa Songkroh School 2022

January 26, 2022   |   admin   |   Faculty of Humanities & Social Science News, Spotlight News,

On January 26, the Department of English for Business Communication year 1 and year 2 students under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences have once again made their way to help the community by providing the primary school learners at Christa Songkroh School a 2 hour mini-English camp. Eleven enthusiastic student-facilitators (Sittichai, Apatcha, Yadapat, Suchanat, Sirinat, Methinee, Onpreeya, Worachit, Sutthikan, Suphawan, Ratthaphum), three active lecturers (Aj. Leo, Aj. Omega Rose, Aj. Ela) and one hardworking staff (Miss Chalita) helped together to achieve the “Fix Me, Make Me Right” activity’s primary objective which was: to develop elementary-school students’ sentence building skills in English by:
    1. enhancing their grammar stock knowledge that is a vital part in completing the designed activities 2. promoting language creativity and critical thinking
    3. stimulating teamwork skill in accomplishing group tasks
    4. refreshing their English language proficiency

Activities, namely puffing the balloons and rearranging the jumbled words to form correct and meaningful sentences and picking some words on paper strips and putting them together to build sentences as many as they could brought both fun and learning to the 63 participants. Also, worksheets were given for further evaluation on students’ stock knowledge and understanding. Before the activity ended, the attending teachers from our cooperating school were requested to occupy the seats placed in front of everybody. Our STCIans passed on their expressions of honor and respect through greetings cards as January is the month when Thailand celebrates Teachers’ Day and in return, the teachers conveyed their words of blessing and good wishes to our students. The participants and the facilitators bade goodbyes with hopes to meet each other again in the future.
