Future generations will be undoubtedly more dependent on technology than we are today. Like other ASEAN countries Thailand realizes the importance in promoting technological advancement for both its students and its teachers. The current high demand for science teachers with English ability grows even more, as the number of bilingual and international schools increases throughout Thailand.

What will I learn?

Overview of the Curriculum:

Our program is designed to transform students’ natural interests in teaching and science into a classroom-ready set of pedagogical skills that are based in well-established learner-centered benchmarks in teaching and scientific inquiry.

Seasoned faculty lead our Science Education program, specializing in understanding and addressing the unique needs of Thai English as a foreign language-users. You will earn this weekend-only degree in two years, enabling you to become a leader/mentor for teachers within your institute and a teacher of science who can encourage students to continue their studies in this most important field.

The curriculum consists of:

  • Core Courses: These courses include the foundational elements for successful teaching in Thailand, including ethics, curriculum development, philosophy, Thai language and cultural competence, psychology for teachers, classroom management, innovations in teaching and educational technology, learning outcomes assessment, practicum training, and preparation for standardized testing in the English Language
  • Specialized Courses: Depending on students’ interests and focus, they may take either Statistics and Computing for Educational Research, or STEM Education (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics)
  • Science Courses: Students will be exposed to a range of Physics or Mathematics Education courses that include 2 Seminars, Selected Topics in Physics/Mathematics, Issues and Trends in Physics/Mathematics, and Problem- or Application- based Physics/Mathematics.
  • Internship: Students upon finishing the program will have been well prepared to teach though exposure to 2 Teaching Professional Internships, in partner schools in Thailand.
  • Thesis Preparation: A full research-based thesis is required for program completion, which is supported by 3 Thesis Development courses designed to assist students with topic selection, literature review, study method, results analysis, statistics, and the writing process, among others.

Study Hours

Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 am -4:30 pm, or as per the program announcement.

Completion of the program will qualify graduates for a number of different science-related positions in schools, depending on previous preparation, professional experience, and expertise.

Accreditation

The M.Ed. program in Science Education is accredited by the Teachers Council of Thailand.

Before You Apply

Admission Requirements

  1. A candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree (in science) with minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 (on a four point scale).
  2. A functional command of spoken English and an accepted written English test score on one of the following tests: TOEFL score of 500 (or CBT 190); IELTS score in the 5.5 bandwidth.

  4. Two 2×2 inch photo.
  5. Application fee of 3,000 baht (non-refundable)
