January 8, 2019   |   Dr. Ma. Arlen F. Arellado   |   Faculty of Humanities & Social Science News,

Lecturers from St. Theresa International College (STIC) visited students on internship in the different offices in Bangkok, Thailand on December 4 and 11, 2018.

Dr. Ma. Arlen F. Arellado and Associate Prof. Dr. Boonruang Chunsumivol, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and College of Education, respectively, monitored the performance of students undergoing on the job training related to their course Business English.

Enrolled in Cooperative Education, a course which aims to give intensive and comprehensive training on the technical and behavioral requirements of the work place and prepares students to enter into their respective career, these students experience the real life situations to be effective professionals in their future work aspirations.

Interviewed as to their experiences in their specific workplace, generally, the students were positive in their responses. Struggling to beat the challenges while learning the art of dealing with people, they enhanced their English language competence and learned other languages as they face customers and clients coming from all over the world. They also picked up nuggets of wisdom as they enriched their potentials and sharpened their intellect.

From the supervisors’ point of view, they were impressed by the students’ attitude, intellectual competence, multi-tasking skills, determination to finish work as planned, and problem solving strategies as the need arises. Because of these positive responses, supervisors invited more students from STIC to apply for internship in the upcoming semesters. Others were groomed to be hired after graduation, while one of them was already hired, because of an instant job vacancy, and the job fits her potentials, on the condition however, that she finishes her school requirements after the internship.

Fulfilled by the positive feedback both from the students and supervisors alike, the lecturers left Bangkok with a grateful heart.

HR personnel of Amari Residences in Bangkok gave feedback to the two professors of STIC on the performance of the student Wiranyupa Qunwong.
