Study Visits by Aeronautics Students to Create Learning Experiences

November 29, 2018   |   Praveen Shaju   |   Aeronautics Department, Faculty of Business Administration News, Spotlight News,

On 29th November 2018, students had a study trip to the Bangkok Aviation Centre (BAC) in Khlong 15, Ongkarak, Nakhon Nayok. Students were warmly welcomed by the Staff and an introductory session was delivered by the Director of BAC.

Soon after the introductory session, students were divided into two groups and toured across different departments of the Flight school. The first location visited was the briefing room, where the instructors and the student pilots conduct their pre-flight discussions. Next they had taken students to the room where all the flight operations such as flight planning, calculating aircraft weight and balance, forecasting weather etc. would take place. Then the aircraft maintenance area was visited as well as the apron where the aircrafts were parked.

There were 2 main types of aircraft seen in that flight school: American made Cessna 172 which had both digital and analog type of instruments and the Austrian made Diamond DA-42. The Student pilots of BAC provided STIC students with much essential information about this aircraft.

Nearing the end of the tour, STIC students visited the control tower and received much additional information about the aerodrome and the operation of the control tower. Lastly it was the simulator time, where they a demonstration in flying a Cessna 172 aircraft was shown.

The visit proved to be a very fruitful experience where students were more enthusiastic and motivated to complete their journey in becoming successful commercial pilots.
