How does the faculty improve work processes and support processes to increase student learning, improve educational programs, research, services, and performance, enhance Core competencies, and reduce variability?

The Faculty has improved work processes using PDCA guidelines to operate all projects and activities to accomplish all five strategic components: graduate production, research and innovation, academic services, art and culture, and administration and management. At the end of the academic year, the Faculty uses SWOT analysis to analyze the Faculty’s performance for the IQA. The results of the projects and activities, from SWOT analysis, and from IQA are analyzed and interpreted for the Faculty’s performance improvement for the next academic year. With this whole process, the Faculty can strengthen the Faculty’s core competencies and reduce process variation.

7. Supply-Network Management.  How does the faculty manage the supply network?

The Faculty manages supply-network management for three key missions as follows:

Mission

Supply-network management

Education management (Curricula)

1. The Faculty publicizes the recruitment of new students by creating PowerPoint presentation containing key information of BE and CA programs for roadshow managed by the College to schools in different regions.

2. The Faculty publicizes the recruitment of new students by posting an announcement on the faculty website and Facebook fan page of both programs.

8. Innovation Management. How does the faculty pursue opportunities for innovation?

The Faculty always looks for the opportunity to create innovations through strategic operations and unexpected changes.

  1. During the COVID-19 pandemic, teaching was done online using Google Classroom.” Faculty members were required to post everything, i.e., class objectives, knowledge contents, assignments, and quizzes, in the Google Classroom, which facilitated teaching and learning. After the pandemic, Google Classroom is still used to provide subject content to students. Using Google Classroom facilitates students’ learning because they can get into the classroom at any time to prepare for the class or review the lessons.
  1. Through the KM project, the Faculty encourages faculty members to produce either academic knowledge or research. Both types of knowledge management result in a new body of knowledge, which is presented in the KM event organized by the Department of Research and Planning.
  1. Academic service also yields new knowledge, which is the result of the implementation of the KM knowledge with the service recipients. When the service is finished, the Faculty collects the results, which are used as data for further research.

9. The Faculty has a curriculum design system and subject matters in the curriculum to catch up with changes.

The Faculty ensures that both curricula (BE and CA) are designed and include trendy subjects that meet situational changes and the needs of stakeholders. The steps of curriculum design are laid out as follows.

  1. Ask for opinions and suggestions from stakeholders – current students, alumni and graduate users. to assess the suitability of the existing curriculum
  2. Keep up with academic advancements and new technologies in related fields.
  3. Comparable to similar curriculum offered by both domestic and international universities
  4. Review of Curriculum Criteria following the National Higher Education Qualifications (TQF) Standards
  5. Analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats due to changing circumstances over time
  6. The Curriculum Improvement Committee prepares the improved curriculum for submission to the College Academic Council
  7. Announcement of improved curriculum
  8. Assessment of both curricula via annual IQA
  9. Take the assessment results to improve the performance of the curriculum operation

10. The faculty has a system for the provision of learning support and maintenance to be constantly up to date

As for the provision of learning support and maintenance systems, the Faculty classified them into two types: the system of providing and maintaining equipment and the system of providing and maintaining pedagogical knowledge and skills. Both systems are monitored to keep them abreast of the times.

  1. The system of equipment provision and maintenance is mainly operated by the IT personnel of the College’s administration. The part taken by the Faculty is to inform faculty members to help maintain the equipment while using it or to inform IT personnel when problems occur with the equipment. To keep the equipment up-to-date, suggestions are made to the College.
  2. In the system of pedagogical knowledge and skill provision and maintenance, the Faculty launches projects and activities to keep faculty members up-to-date. For example, to equip faculty members with the knowledge of how to produce and write academic work, the Faculty invited a guest speaker, the Director of CULI, for a seminar session to provide such knowledge to faculty members, not only from Hu-So but also from other faculties. (HS10) To improve assessment skills and knowledge, the Faculty provides this knowledge by distributing the Assessment PowerPoint file to faculty members to study by themselves. In case they need more explanations, they can meet with the Dean to discuss. To improve the quality of lecturers to match the requirements of the 21st century, the PowerPoint file on ‘Teachers in the Disruptive Innovation Age’ is distributed to all faculty members to study.
