3. Background Information
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences developed from the integration of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Faculty of Education aiming at increasing the potential of producing graduates for society and increasing the efficiency of management within the organization. In the first stage, the faculty was entitled the Faculty of Humanities. However, in the academic year of 2012, the name was extended to be the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to reflect both humanity and social science work. Later in the academic year of 2013, the St. Theresa International College Council passed a resolution to separate the Faculty of Education to become independent in order to allow the full potential and responsibility in producing teachers.
At the present, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has offered two programs:
1) Bachelor of Arts Program in English for Business Communication aims to produce graduates of liberal arts following the needs of society that require individuals in the business field with a good command of speaking, listening, reading and writing English and to support professional changes in both ASEAN and international levels. The program has been accredited by the Office of the Higher Education Commission (MOI), Ministry of Education since 1 May 2001. In the academic year of 2014, the Faculty implemented the curriculum improvement according to the development cycle.
2) Bachelor of Communication Arts Program in Digital Media aims at producing graduates of communication arts to serve the needs of the society by transferring the society of changes. Such changes include the changing of TV systems from analog to digital causing the need for many quality communication arts professionals.
St. Theresa International College, therefore, re-realizes essence of fulfilling the aim of the program.
4. Philosophy, vision, mission, aspiration, goal
4.1 Philosophy
Faculty of Humanities and social science creates graduates with wide and in-depth knowledge, skills in using English, intelligence, discipline, and moral making them a valuable member of society and nation.
4.2 Vision
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is an excellent academic and professional learning resource, and also is an academic leader with social responsibility.
4.3 Mission
1) Producing graduates in the liberal arts and communication arts being accepted in all sectors
2) Developing research in the field of humanities and social sciences
3) Creating a network of academic cooperation with domestic and international organizations
4) Disseminating knowledge and providing academic services to society
5) Promoting projects and activities on morality, ethics, culture and art

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences aims to produce graduates with academic and professional knowledge, academic endeavor, English language skills, morality and ethic to become good models of society.

- Faculty Identity
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences sets up its identity that complies with the identity of the St Theresa International College which emphasizes “English proficiency of graduates and personnel, and the development of English language ability to community”. To fulfill the identity, the Faculty administrates the learning and teaching activities to meet an international standard in order to develop graduates’ English language ability required by the changing society. In addition, the Faculty organizes various English-related-extra-curricular activities to promote outstanding graduates who can use English in working in Thai and international arenas.
- Improvement results based on feedback from the previous year’s assessment results
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has improved the plans and operations in accordance with the recommendation of the Educational Quality Assessment Committee for the academic year of 2021.
Issues and suggestions
Encourage teachers to conduct research and publish in national or international journals appearing in the TCI database.
- Encourage teachers to produce academic work required for the academic title
- Encourage students to regularly practice TOEIC tests via either MOODLE online.
- Directly ask students their opinions /needs for their improvement and adopt the results for further improvement.
- Develop more academic work for online distribution
- Implement further plans for assessing students’ English skills
- Implement plans to improve learning environments
Improvement guidelines
Encouraging and advising the faculty members to produce academic work which can be developed to become required documents for them to apply for an academic title.
- Encouraging faculty members intending to conduct research to meet with College’s Research Dept. to plan and ask for research advice for their research.
- Encouraging research networks and coordinating with external institutes to conduct research based on the needs of the community or region.
- Creating TOEIC protocol for advisors and students to guide a) the advisors on how to encourage their advisors for the TOEIC practice; b) the students on regularly do the TOEIC practice.
- Distributing students’ work on the Faculty Facebook fan page.
- Arranging “Language and Art Edifice”: an open area for students to do activities outside the class time.
